altVermicelli production is quite popular in the North of Vietnam with the name of many craft villages like Duong Lieu (Hoai Duc district, Hanoi), Tan Hoa (Quoc Oai district, Hanoi) and Cu Da (Thanh Oai district, Hanoi). These villages often buy canna flour in canna plantation area in Hanoi like My Duc district or the provinces in the Northwest like Son La, Lai Chau …or Eastwest provinces like Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai… for vermicelli production. Besides that, resulting from the high demand of flour for vermicelli production (e.g. Cu Da village produces 15.000 tons of vermicelli per year), the producers in vermicelli villages have to buy also flour from China (about 50% or 83.000 tons) which the content is not really canna and the producers also have no ideas about its content.

altVietnam is one of the top 6 exporters of honey in the world after Argentina, Mexico, Canada, China and Brazil with the export volume of almost 9,000 tons/ year. Besides Dak Lac province is considered the biggest center of honey production (account for over 40% of whole country), other provinces like Ca Mau, Binh Phuoc, Lam Dong, Son La also have big potential for bee raising and honey processing.

altTea is presently growing in 35 provinces in Vietnam with the total area of 131,500 ha and the average output is 6.5 tons of fresh bud/ha, providing material for the processing of 700 tea processing companies in Vietnam. Vietnam is in the top 5 biggest tea exporting countries in the world. In 2008, the total export quantity of tea reached 104,000 tons with the export turnover of USD147 million to over 110 countries.
 
Government gives the nod to a second stimulus package

altA second stimulus package has been approved by the government in the monthly cabinet meeting.The move was announced by government office chairman Nguyen Xuan Phuc on October 30. Phuc said cabinet members spent most of the time discussing economic stimulation plans and solutions, particularly whether the government should launch a second stimulus package or not.
